Boston Bulldogs Present at the State House

June 12 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Special thanks to MA State Senator Michael Rush and MA State Representative Paul McMurtry for inviting the Boston Bulldogs to visit the MA State House on June 12th to brief legislators and staff about the Club’s integrative approach to long-term recovery through running, wellness and community. Executive Director, Dr. Jim Keane, Director of Programs and Outreach, Meaghan Langlois, and Board Member Dr. Sue Gabrielli led the presentation and then opened it up to questions.

In his remarks, Representative McMurtry marveled at how “the Boston Bulldogs complement existing recovery models in a warm, supportive community.” Compared to the $42 billion a year U.S. addiction/recovery industry, the Boston Bulldogs do an amazing job “fostering healing and sobriety with compassion, running shoes, and granola bars.” Dr. Keane noted that the Club, which is expanding into Worcester and Roxbury, supports six vital programs and reaches over 10,000 individuals a year without elaborate facilities or extravagant overhead. Keane said, “We simply encourage those who want recovery to ‘just show up.’ There is no crazy paperwork or dense forms to complete or insurance requirements. ‘Show-up’ and see for yourself the powerful support that the Bulldogs give to those in recovery as well as their friends, family members and allies.”
